Battle of the Books
BOB is a reading incentive program designed to improve reading comprehension and enthusiasm for reading using a fun and unique competition format. Participants are given a reading list of ten books and challenged to read as many books on the list as possible within a three to four month timeframe. Students will compete in teams to determine their knowledge and understanding of the books. This year’s books have been carefully selected to include a variety of genres, reading levels, and themes. This assortment of current and previous Award nominees provides a selection to appeal to reluctant as well as enthusiastic and mature readers. All Battle of the Books selections are available for check out through the school library.
Practices are after school untill 3:45. The practice schedule is:

On January 22nd, students will take a quiz to determine if they have made the competition teams. Two teams from PHIS will compete in a district competition. The district competition will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24th, at FRHS.
